Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, and Happy Hanukkah to all my awesome readers!
If you've been keeping up with me on my new bookstagram, you'll know that a lot of awesome things have happened the past few months! I recently became a rep for the incredible BookishAdventuresShop on Instagram/Etsy, and I can't wait to start reviewing her lovely products. I also have received some more review books! Next on the schedule are THE CROWNS OF CROSWALD by D. E. Night (self-pub), FANGIRL by Rainbow Rowell (courtesy of Wednesday Books), AMBER & DUSK by Lyra Selene (courtesy of Scholastic), and SPLINTERING REALITY by Catherine Kopf (self-pub). Plus, I have four possibles coming in the mail! Keep an eye out for these reviews coming up in the months of December, January, and February.
I have been tagged by the lovely blogger Julia at Fablehunter to do the Christmas Characters Tag. Thank you so much for thinking of me!
A Gift You Received or Want This Year
A gift that I would like this year would be the new Lord of the Rings Pop! Funkos that were just released a few weeks ago. I have a hunch that a certain family member has already picked these out; every time I mention them, he starts looking very *shifty* and doesn’t hold eye contact. (He’s not too good at keeping secrets…😂).
A Favorite Holiday Treat to Have Every Year
One of the highlights of the Christmas season is going to a goody swap (where everyone brings yummy Christmas snacks to swap). There, I get the most delicious apple cider and sugar cookies. Those are my two favorite holiday treats.
Ghost of Christmas Past
A Holiday Memory from Your Past
On my list of favorite holiday memories was when I was about 12 years old. I woke up to find a string attached to the end of my bed left by “Santa.” I followed the string all throughout the house, then outside and around the whole house until it stopped at the garage. I opened the door and inside was a sweet go-cart. The most vivid memory I have is riding the go-cart around the yard at 5:30 in the morning, and it being freezing cold and snowing. It was the best!
Buddy the Elf
“The best way to spread Christmas Cheer, is singing loud for all to hear.”
A Holiday Song You like to Sing Each Holiday Season
I absolutely love Feliz Navidad and Simply Having A Wonderful Christmas Time. (I *DESPISE* Christmas Shoes and My Grown Up Christmas List).
An Unpopular Toy You Really Wanted to Get One Year
Do books count? Because I remember all my little friends thinking I was crazy for asking for a bunch of books for Christmas.
A Moment When Your Heart Grew Three Sizes
My church’s Angel Tree program (we are given a name of a child whose parents may be in jail or absent; the child wrote down one thing they want for Christmas). It really made me stop and think how fortunate I was to grow up in a household with loving parents. I had such a fun time picking out the *perfect* gift for my child, and imagining the look on her face when she opened the present.
A Tradition You Like to Do Every Winter
I have a lot of traditions, but my favorite ones are going Black Friday shopping with my whole family, going to the mountains for New Years, and getting the whole family together for Christmas dinner.
A Moment You Believed in a Holiday Wish/Miracle
When I wished for the Hallmark movies to stop coming on TV and they did. It was like *magic.*
Cindy Lou Who
A Favorite Holiday Tradition
Waking up Christmas morning to the smell of my mother’s famous breakfast casserole, opening presents in our pajamas, and watching Christmas movies on TV.
Frosty the Snowman
A Memory Involving Snow or A Memory You Would Like to Have Involving Snow
(This was about 9 years ago.) I live in a college city, and someone at the college had made a six foot tall snow ramp over the wall at the baseball field. All the kids from around town gathered at the snow hill (which was almost vertical) and slid down the snow ramp and jumped over the wall on the other side (which was about a seven foot drop to the bottom). There were some bruised ankles (and a mild concussion), but it sure was fun…not the concussion part.
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
A Holiday Activity You Like Doing
Going shopping and seeing all the Christmas decorations all over everything, and hearing the music playing over the speakers (and taking advantage of the *spot on* deals).
A Favorite Holiday Saying or Quote
“Is your house on fire, Clark?”
“No, Aunt Bethany. Those are the Christmas lights.”
-Christmas Vacation (my favorite Christmas movie *ever*)
