BYRD’S FAMOUS COOKIES
On my recent trip to Charleston, I encounted this little store called Byrd’s Famous Cookies.
After walking in the store, I was immediately captivated by the warm decor, friendly associates, and the amazing smell of cookies.
Byrd’s Cookies has a sample bar where you can try all the flavors of cookies (if you choose to) before you buy them. This is what persuaded me to purchase cookies here; if I hadn’t have tasted the cookies beforehand, I don’t know that I would have spent the money to purchase them. Byrd’s sells four bags for $25 (or one bag for $7.95) and while I wouldn’t usually spend that much on snack foods, Byrd’s cookies are definitely worth it.
There are a number of delicious flavors, from Key Lime to Sea Salt Caramel (my favorite), and a new addition, Benne Wafer. They also have fun flavors like Pink Lemonade and Georgia Peach. The cookies each have a unique taste, as well as texture, and the cookie creators at Byrd’s Cookies have brilliantly captured the flavors of items like peach, chocolate, lemonade, cinnamon, jalapeño cheddar, peanut butter, and almond. When I sampled the Pink Lemonade, it surprised me because it actually tasted like pink lemonade in cookie form. I didn’t taste a cookie that I didn’t like. (I was given a tin of cookies (the white Charleston tin pictured above) by the store manager in exchange for this review on my blog, and I couldn’t stop myself from eating half the cookies in the tin (Scotch Oatmeal) before I got home, so I couldn’t use that bag for a photo op!)
In addition to the tin, I purchased Key Lime, Sea Salt Caramel, Triple Chocolate, and Almond Shortbread, and they are all delicious. Sea Salt Caramel was my favorite because it is very thin and crispy, with a hint of salt and a whole lot of caramel. It has a great crunch factor and an overall quality taste, as do all of Byrd’s cookies.
I visited both locations in Charleston, and each location had colorful displays of products that caught the eyes of customers, including collectible cookie tins, South Carolina decor, and accessories.
All in all, the experience I had while visiting Byrd’s and eating the cookies was one of the best store experiences I have had; friendly associates always make a visit more enjoyable, and the associates I encountered at both store locations were kind, helpful, and genuinely seemed happy to be helping me with my purchase.
I would recommend Byrd’s Famous Cookies to anyone who wants a quality, portable, and delicious snack. Byrd’s is definitely a must-stop on your visit to Charleston, and I look forward to visiting them again!
(Many thanks to Mr. Reginald for giving me the chance to review Byrd’s Famous Cookies by providing me with a cookie tin. You don’t know how appreciative I am for this opportunity!)
